Testing

You work for a women’s organization in Kenya and have been assigned the project of leading a team of five volunteers in setting up women self help groups in Kibera. Located in Nairobi, Kibera is the largest urban slum in Africa.
The overall goal of the project is economic independence for the women. Each self help group will work towards creating and selling traditional jewellery and handicrafts from Kenya.Funds for the project are limited. You also foresee the need for more voluntary participation. Your task involves creating awareness about this initiative and garnering support in terms of funds and manpower to ensure successful completion of the project.
After some analysis, you conclude that the project needs a dynamic mechanism of information dissemination. A website with a variety of media (write ups, images and videos) will attract donors and volunteers for the project. An online catalogue showcasing the jewellery and handicrafts will help in marketing their products to a wide audience. Short updates from the field which highlight moments of pain, courage and triumph will add a sense of immediacy to the project. Episodic video updates which capture the progress of the project and stories of human interest will add a powerful visual element to the communication efforts.

  1. Blogging with images of the products produced using the limited resources available to these female champions would be of great use towards attaracting funding. it will not only showcase what they have managed to do but willshow the massive potential when and if additional funding is realised.
